Just because YOU wouldn’t choose abortion doesn’t mean that no one else should be able to choose it.

The “pro-life” movement is about taking away someone’s right to choose.

By Sam Cage DUBLIN (Reuters) - Thousands of people rallied in central Dublin on Saturday against the government’s plan to allow limited access to abortion where a woman’s life is in danger. Organisers said more than 40,000 massed outside government offices in the capital for the “National Vigil for Life”, making it the largest anti-abortion demonstration in Ireland’s history. Ministers have agreed draft legislation to allow for limited access to abortion in cases where a woman’s life is at risk, including the threat of suicide, but the proposal has divided the ruling coalition. …

Why would you protest against this? A woman DIED because of these laws. They need to be changed.

One of two fake abortion clinics on the same street as the REAL center, the EMW’s Women Center here in downtown Louisville. This one is right next door to the actual clinic and this place is seriously a nightmarish hell-hole for any unsuspecting women tricked by the anti’s. They assure you this this the abortion clinic, they get you inside, and then offer you food and drink—which of course, means that once you realize your mistake, you can’t run next door and catch your actual appointment, since you need to fast.

Women have come out of this building crying, and on a few rare occasions, without their pants. They take you to a back room for an ultrasound, have you remove your pants, and then begin lecturing you on the sins of aborting. They do not give you back your pants until you have listened, and a few women tricked this far refused to listen and stormed out furious, ashamed, and in their underwear.

This is the anti-choice agenda—lying, tricking, shaming, and embarrassing women to the brink of hysterics in hopes that she carry the pregnancy to term. Forcing her, through lies and manipulation, to do with her body what THEY want, not what is best for her.

There is no “choice” at the Louisville “Women’s Choice” clinics. Just abuse, shame, and bigots who would rather undress a woman to make her feel vulnerable and then explain how awful of a person she is than let her make HER. CHOICE.

this is fucking disgusting

Ok I believe this is hugely important so I’m posting this again in a less crowed format. Look on my other blog for the longer version.

Student: You made some good points in your talk, but you shouldn’t force your morality on me or anyone else who wants an abortion. It’s our choice, isn’t it?

Me: Are you saying I’m wrong?

Student: I’m not sure. What do you mean?

Me: Well, you think I’m wrong, don’t you? If not, why are you correcting me? And if so, then you’re forcing your morality on me, aren’t you?

Student: No, I just want to know why you are telling people what they can and cannot do with their lives.

Me: Are you saying I shouldn’t do that? That it’s wrong? If so, then why are you telling me what I can and cannot do? Why are you forcing your morality on me?

Student: (regrouping): I’m confused. Look, the simple fact is that pro-choicers are not forcing women to have abortions, but you want to force women to be mothers. If you don’t like abortion, don’t have one. But you shouldn’t force your beliefs on others. All I am saying is that pro-life people should be tolerant of other views.

Me: Is that your view?

Student: Yes.

Me: Why are you forcing it on me? That’s not very tolerant, is it?

Student: What do you mean? I think women should have a choice and you don’t. It’s your view that’s intolerant, wouldn’t you say?

Me: Okay, so you think I’m wrong. What is it you want pro-lifers like me to do?

Student: You should let women decide for themselves and tolerate other views.

Me: Tell me, what exactly do pro-choicers believe?

Student: We believe everyone should decide for themselves and tolerate other views.

Me: So you are demanding that pro-lifers become pro-choicers.

Student: What?

Me: With all due respect, here’s what I hear you saying. Unless I agree with you, you will not tolerate my view. Privately, you’ll let me think whatever I want, but you don’t want me to act as if my view is true. It seems you think tolerance is a virtue if and only if people agree with you.

The irony of pro-life

“You telling me how I should think is intolerant but me telling you how to live your life is totally cool.”

You sure as shit can think whatever you want about abortion but the point you seem to be missing is that your viewpoint is about trying to control the actions and access to medical care of people. No one’s trying to change your mind about abortion, just to change your mind about respecting other people’s life choices and maybe not trying to force other people to live by your own standards.

Just Letting You Know

snow-leopard-cheetah-furry:

I’m personally against abortion. It’s the year 2013 and we have condoms, birth control, the “day after” pill, and plain just not having sex so pregnancy is VERY avoidable. But then you have the stupid people. Back in the mid 20th century, abortion was legal in the US for a little while but was then reversed because people thought of it as murder. But that didn’t stop people from having sleazy unprotected sex, instead women (the not-too-smart ones) tried making themselves have miscarriages (where coat hanger abortions originated from). So to prevent people hurting/killing themselves from, we need abortions.

(This is like 100% true, there was even an episode of Law&Order: Special Victims Unit about it. People are obviously not going to stop having sex so lets make sure kids are born into loving responsible homes.)

Putting the blame on and calling women stupid for having necessary medical care denied to them is a pretty fucked up way to advocate for reproductive rights and safety.

of-alaska:

Asshole of the Day for May 20, 2013: Mark Obenshain

The Virginia GOP is lining up an all-asshole lineup for this year’s elections. At the top of the ticket, for governor they’ve got Ken Cuccinelli, who still wants to jail people for sodomy even though the Supreme Court says he can’t.

Then in the lt. lovernor spot they’ve got E.W. Jackson, who compares Planned Parenthood to the KKK.

But it’s their candidate for attorney general, Virginia state Sen. Mark Obenshain, that stands out today. He has proposed a law requiring women to report miscarriages to the police within 24 hours. There’s no law against miscarriages, so he just wants police to make sure women feel bad enough about it.

So much for GOP outreach!

You stay classy, Virginia GOP.

Photo

hellyeahscarleteen:

Slut-shaming is defined as putting down or thinking badly about people (especially women) based on their expression of their sexuality. And it’s bad news.

"Rape is just a “method of conception,” relegating women to the means of conception, instead of, you..."

“
Rape is just a “method of conception,” relegating women to the means of conception, instead of, you know, people whose experiences, hopes, and fears actually matter…

Fundamentally, the debate over abortion is a debate over what we make of the fact that some of us in this world can have babies. For pro-choicers, “being able to make babies” is a nifty thing to be able to do, like being able to play the piano or being able to bake pies. It’s your skill, your ability. You should use it how you like…

For anti-choicers, the fact that someone can make a baby means that making babies is what she is for. People mistake the term “objectification” to mean “looking at with lust,” but what it actually means is “reducing someone to an object to be used.” Sexual objectification is assuming that because women turn you on, they are for sex, instead of a person whose sexuality should be an expression of their agency. What anti-choicers engage in is reproductive objectification. Women are among an array of objects to be used. The refrigerator is for storing food. The bookshelf is for holding books. The woman is for making babies. You no more give her a choice in the matter than you would give your refrigerator veto power over what food it hold because it didn’t like your method of shopping.
”

- Amanda Marcotte, She’s Just an Easy-Bake Oven: How the GOP and the Anti-Choice Movement See Women (via seebster)

Photo

Photo

littleorphanammo:

This dude was happily taking pictures of girls legs, feet and whatever else he pleased without their consent. So I snapped my own pic and said “enjoy the internet motherfucker’. He laughed at me. Plz share. #publicshame #newYork #subway

Whenever I post anything pro-life, I always get varying degrees of rationalization from the other side in their re-posts usually with profanity and insults. None of them will ever answer my question about scientific proof of the exact moment when human life begins. Any takers on that question?

Maybe no one takes you seriously because you compare horrific human rights violations to abortion and no one really wants to deal with that nonsense because you seem too far gone if you can equate abortion and rape.

I’m curious as to what evidence you have to support your theory of when human life beings, though…

When anti-choicers believe consent to sex is consent to pregnancy...

Last time I checked no one has the ability to define anyone else’s consent but the person giving or revoking consent…

The Oppressed Little Fetus: I'm torn between replying to the idiots

The Oppressed Little Fetus: I'm torn between replying to the idiots:
conservacat:

And not even bothering because they wouldn’t hear anyway, they’ve already made up their minds, the personhood of a human can be decided by A SINGLE DAMN PERSON

Well what do we expect from people who most likely support the party that fought to keep slavery legal, fought…

Hmm. The party that fought to keep slavery legal, the party that fought— only half a century ago— against the Civil Rights Act…

Was the Democrat party.

They thought black people were “less than” and not worthy of equal treatment under the law. To Democrats, black people weren’t human, they were sub-human.

50 years later we have a Democrat party that attacks black people who refuse to subscribe to leftist ideology, as Leftists believe all minorities/people who belong to “oppressed groups” who are not liberal have “betrayed their people” and are “not really” black/Latino/gay/female/etc. etc. etc.

We have a Democrat party who believes and advocates that a human’s personhood can be denied if one other human wishes it so.

No equal protection under the law.

Runs a little contrary to the Democrats’ claims that they care about “the little guy” who can’t defend himself. Runs a little contrary to the claim of championing “human rights.” Runs a little contrary to the claim of advocating “equality.” And yes, runs contrary to the claim that they want to protect “all life, all nature.”

Because wow, what’s more natural than a species reproducing???

Okay first of all, you are right, the Democrats were that party but the tidbit that you seem to be missing here is that somewhere along the line party ideologies switched. The modern day ideologies of each party was the opposite, but the names stuck. I know it sounds really good to you to say that the Democrats had really shitty ideas about human rights back in the day, but what you’re failing to address is the shift in views and the adoption by the Republican party of those views. Doesn’t it seem strange to you that most of the former slave states vote Republican these days?

Also, equal protection under the law, while protecting the rights of a fetus, would still also protect the rights of the person carrying the fetus. Think about that. A fetus having all the basic human rights fully autonomous people do would not allow for a fetus to use another person’s body against their will, the same as another autonomous human is not able to use my body against my will. It’s a violation of rights. If you were to argue that the right to life is more important than the right to govern your own body, suddenly it would be you deciding for other people which rights are more important and which rights can be violated.

And finally, I’m not sure where you’re getting your information from, but liberals/Democrats definitely not believe that women, LGBTQ* individuals, or a people of color who have conservative/Republican ideologies are any less of their sex, gender, sexual identity, or race. It’s kind of impossible to think “Man, that black girl is a Republican so obviously she isn’t really black or a girl.” Your political beliefs do not have any bearing on your sex, gender, sexual preferences, or race. I’m really curious to see an example of a left leaning person saying that a black person isn’t really a black person because they lean right or any other ridiculous example you gave.

Leaving women with no options | SocialistWorker.org

Leaving women with no options | SocialistWorker.org:

Whatever the outcome of the trial of a Philadelphia doctor, the bigger crime is what women seeking abortions had to endure.
